At the community forum we shared our solution with the Windward community and told them our problem and our app to fix that problem. We presented our app prototype on a couple of different IPads so people could test it out, with a functioning message and calling system. When we were presenting we took turns sharing different pages of the app and their function. We also shared why each of the pages were important to have. For example, on the escape route page we shared how this is an example escape route during a sample fire disaster and we explained how the red zone meaner you had so escape and the green zone means that you are safe. We showed how the app could lead people to a safe spot where they can stay for a long period of time. We prepared by having an idea how we wanted to demonstrate our app. We had in mind what kinds of things we wanted to share about the app and how we think it is going to help the problem that people aren’t prepared for disasters and that they don’t know what to do when one is coming. We learned that people we talked to think that this will be very helpful for people in and before disasters because it gives them direction of what to do. People found the email feature on the app very cool because it alerts your family members that you are okay during a disaster and it is already typed so all you would have to do is send it. Overall we are very happy with the results and think this app is very helpful.
